The International Partnership for Service-Learning and Leadership

bullet Mission/Vision

The International Partnership for Service-Learning and Leadership believes that the joining of study and service: (1) is a powerful means of learning, (2) addresses human needs that would otherwise remain unmet, (3) promotes intercultural/international literacy, (4) advances the personal growth of students as members of the community, (5) gives expression to the obligation of public and community service by educated people, and (6) sets academic institutions in right relationship to the larger society.

bullet What does the organization do?

The International Partnership for Service-Learning, founded in 1982, is a not-for-profit educational organization incorporated in New York State serving colleges, universities, service agencies and related organizations around the world by fostering programs that link community service and academic study. The International Partnership administers 15 undergraduate programs in 13 nations, and offers an M.A. Degree program in International Service. Program locations include the Czech Republic, Ecuador (Galapagos, Guayaquil, and Quito), England, France, India, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, the Philippines, Russia, Scotland, Thailand, and the Lakota Nation (South Dakota, USA). Students earn 12- 18 college credits per semester and serve up to 15-20 hours per week. The programs are based at accredited universities and all aspects of the programs are conducted by in-country professionals.
