Mission/Vision
The Pacific and Asian Affairs Council's mission is to promote a greater awareness and understanding of foreign affairs issues with special attention to Hawaii's role in the Asia-Pacific region.
Since 1954, PAAC has provided international education to more than 73,500 high school students and 90,500 individuals attending community college programs statewide. PAAC is preparing the next generation of leaders for an increasingly interconnected world.
What does the organization do?
The Pacific and Asian Affairs Council (PAAC) is an independent, international educational non-profit and serves as the World Affairs Council for the State of Hawai'i.
PAAC has continuously brought substantive and critical issues of foreign affairs to Hawaii through its programs- Speaker Forums, International Visitor Leadership Program, UHCC International Affairs Outreach Program and High School Global Education Program.
Opportunities for Youth
Hawaii's high school students are invited to join PAAC at our statewide conferences on important global issues such as economic development and environmental protection, the Arab-Israeli conflict, displacement of people, and foreign aid. Two conferences are held each year. PAAC is also developing a career explorations program as a part of the conferences.
PAAC also puts on an annual team based Academic WorldQuest competition, at which students participate in six rounds of challenging questions on international topics.
A 14 week after school class in global studies and technology is offered in selected public high schools
each semester. Students study global issues and initiate and carry out a global action project in their neighborhoods.
Anyone who is interested in our conferences is welcome to sign up for the event and join in on on-line discussions.
