Mission/Vision
AIDSTanzania's mission is to provide HIV/AIDS education and testing in the rural areas outside of Arusha, Tanzania, whild building a sustainable relationship with the community. By approaching HIV/AIDS as a public health and community development issue, we hope to better engage the community in HIV/AIDS prevention education.
We have three main goals as an organization. One is creating a sustainable HIV testing regime in the communities outside of Arusha. Next is, establishing cross-cultural links between the College of William and Mary and the Arusha area. Lastly, we want to halt the spread of HIV/AIDS through prevention education in both the United States and Tanzania.
What does the organization do?
AIDSTanzania is a student organization from the College of William and Mary. We travel once a year to the rural areas outside of Arusha in Tanzania to do HIV/AIDS education and testing. We educate local people on the biology and prevention of HIV/AIDS, in both The United Republic of Tanzania and the United States. We also provide free testing through Angaza in Tanzania.
Opportunities for Youth
The is a great opportunity for youth to get involved in. Youth that attend the College of William and Mary could join our efforts in HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. Youth outside our college could contact us with questions and also promote HIV/AIDS awareness. We are a great resource for questions and ideas for youth who want to help fight AIDS.
