Mission/Vision
Self-directed and self-sufficient young people capable of addressing own vulnerabilities, risks and issues, raising own levels of aspiration and achieving own dreams and hopes toward development of self, family, community, country and humanity.
What does the organization do?
Gabay as locally known is a youth-led, non-government organization established to stimulate community responses and active involvement of young people to respond to emerging issues affecting their well-being. Gabay strives to provide avenues for people particularly the youth to discover their inherent capacities to respond, harness and translate these into tools that enables them and their communities to set own goals, develop own solutions, and own their own response. For 10 years now, Gabay facilitates these processes that guides young people to make life enhancing decisions that drives them to pursue what they strive for and that is Life Competence.
According to our Finance Secretary Secretary Margarito Teves:
"We (NGOs among other) should continue to respect the fundamental importance of government ownership & work closely with government authorities. This not only ensures sustainable outcomes but also strengthens accountability"
Excerpts from the WB brochure.
Our organization works with this principle, and therefore mandate our existence to become partners of local government in accelerating local response to HIV and also acts as facilitator for civil society participation to ensure greater involvement of stakeholders.
Opportunities for Youth
Youth who has passion in working and understanding street children, children of prostituted women, people living with HIV and other underserved and disenfranchised young people has the chance to become our volunteers and international contacts. As volunteers they can benefit in becoming facilitators, trainers and pool of counselors and advocates and have the chance to engage self in our annual peace fellowships and gatherings. Local food and accommodation are being shouldered by the organization.
