The African Child And Woman Advancement Initiative

bullet Mission/Vision

Our vision is to work towards the new African dream of
total social and economic emancipation for all her
denizens via the power of education and information
dissemination.
The African women and child advancement initiative
was born out of a need to help encourage people think
and act outside the box where applicable; we owe
ourselves the duty to act pro-actively, and ingeniously,
in every situation, at all times, in our own continent for
its continual improvement.
Our mission is to serve individuals and families in the
disadvantaged sectors of our communities. We
promote innovative solutions and facilitate lasting
change by helping:

1.To empower as many children as is possible via the
power of thought regardless of gender ,race
,nationality or socio- economic class with the aim of
guarantying a future in which peace would truly be in
the minds of men both here at home and the world over.

2. To help empower disadvantaged women and youths
by educating them in areas of skill and health
acquisition and also in the maintenance and use of the
said skills in order to help them live fulfilling
economically independent lives.

3.To help alleviate cultural, social and economic
burdens placed on women and children in certain
areas and under certain circumstances with special
emphasis on those that are mentally and physically
handicapped and those that are actual and as well as
virtual widows and orphans.

4.To inculcate in our children the knowledge that we
live in a global village and that it is necessary to offer
our quota towards global well being and development.

bullet What does the organization do?

Poverty is both a cause and consequence
of HIV/AIDS.

The correlation between gender, age and
socioeconomic level and the incidence and
spread of the HIV virus is perhaps one of
the most vital keys in helping to stem the
spread of the pandemic.

Graphical representation that shows the
general route of viral transmission, the
various points of social vulnerability and
the different degrees of stigmatization and
the concealment they produce has been
formulated by the AFRICAN WAND CHAIN
and has been dubbed FLOW X .

Armed with this tool's specific look at
breaking the spread of the virus across
socio-economic lines in society, the
AFRICAN WAND CHAIN arms people with
the information and tools to protect
themselves, and promotes grassroots
efforts to mitigate the effects of HIV/AIDS
in poor communities.

The acronym T.R.E.D.S. stands for The
Rewarding EDucation Scheme. It is a
program designed to foster and nurture
creativity in grade school children by
employing the power of "Infotainment".
The program would be run as a series
of interactive learning sessions run on
students from various establishments
pitched against themselves and, more
importantly, against the established
learning- by – rote system prevalent in
today’s educational system in Nigeria
today.
The core body of students selected for
the program would be encouraged as
much as possible to be as self reliant
as is deemed necessary in the society
today by teaching them skills and
processes that would further equip
them to function in the future as
efficiently as Nigerians should given all
our natural advantages.
T.R.ED.S. is a program initiated by the
African Woman and Child Advancement
Initiative and is based on the philosophy
that innovative thinking using the tools
of humor and mental skill acquisition is
the only way to achieve wholeness in
existence.
Hopefully the following would be said to
be held true for all the children of this
country when they attain adulthood if
we, this present generation, do our jobs
properly. The Nigerian child of the future
would be said to:

1. Be curious
2. seek out problems
3. enjoy challenges
4. Be optimistic
5. Be able to suspend judgment
6. Be comfortable with imagination
7. See problems as opportunities
8. See problems as interesting
9. See problems as emotionally
acceptable
10. Challenge assumptions

The main aim of this exercise is to
create an environment in which
children have power, one in which they
have the right of way, the right to
interact with the world on their terms,
the choice of thinking of things they
want to think of in ways they want to
think of them in…most especially an
environment that empowers children by
giving them the RIGHT TO DREAM and by
empowering them by teaching them
that WHATEVER A PERSON SETS
HIS/HER MIND TO DO CAN BE
ACCOMPLISHED

bullet Opportunities for Youth

THE AFRICAN WAND CHAIN's
comprehensive strategy in the
fight against poverty addresses
three primary areas — children,
health and hunger.
We also focus
on education provision, HIV/AIDS
relief and preparedness as the
major factors affecting poor
communities.
In all of our efforts,
we place special emphasis on
working with poor women, who
have enormous potential to build
a better future for themselves
and their communities.
