 Mission/Vision
IFEX is a global network of more than 60 non-governmental organisations working to defend and promote the right to freedom of expression. Founded in 1992 and managed by Canadian Journalists for Free Expression, IFEX harnesses the power of the Internet to spread information and mobilise action.
What does the organization do?
IFEX monitors censorship around the world by operating an Alert Network that reports on violations (attacks on press freedom, Internet censorship) ; publishes a weekly e-newsletter; works with developing country groups to develop capacity for monitoring free expression; facilitates campaigns among its member organisations; maintains the largest searchable online archive of free expression alerts.
Opportunities for Youth
IFEX occasionally posts jobs for Action Alert Coordinators and Outreach and Development Coordinators. We also welcome volunteers who can contribute their administrative and research skills, and assist with CJFE events, including Word on the Street or World Press Freedom Day.
